Tallahassee, FL - Yesterday (9-23), at approximately 4:30PM, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a reported home invasion robbery at 2700 West Pensacola Street (Villa Del Lago Apartments). Upon arrival, officers learned that two male victims were inside an apartment watching television, when 18 year-old Darius Davis walked into the victims’ apartment brandishing a handgun and taser. According to the victims, Davis then stole their cell phones and an Xbox. One of the victims explained to officers that he met Davis a few days before and during that encounter had allowed Davis in the apartment to play video games.
The victims provided officers with a description of Davis and explained he fled in a white Ford Fusion. Officer Jeffrey Mazerac saw the vehicle a short time after the robbery and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and eventually crashed into a concrete pillar at 253 Hayden Road (Seminole Legend Apartments). The driver, later identified as 23 year-old Lewis Mohorn, and Davis fled on foot after the crash. Responding officers captured both Mohorn and Davis within minutes.
Officers recovered the gun used during the robbery and determined it was actually a BB gun. Inside the vehicle, officers recovered the stolen Xbox game and a small amount of marijuana. Mohorn denied any knowledge of the robbery and claimed Davis asked him for a ride. Both men were arrested and taken to jail.
