Building Sandcastles Artistic, Digging for Oil Not so Much

Navarre Beach, FL (AP) - Expert sand-sculpting artists from
around the nation have begun a three-day competition in Navarre
Beach on the Florida Panhandle.
The competition began Friday. The artists say they want to
highlight the area's clean beaches and erase images of this
summer's destructive BP oil spill.
BP is still cleaning ribbons of buried oil that washed ashore in
June from the Florida state line to Aplachicola. The company is
seeking permission from the Department of Interior to use machinery
to dig below six inches on Panhandle beaches to clean the oil.
