The Broward Sheriff's Office says a Dania Beach man celebrating his 46th birthday announced a bet around 2 a.m. Sunday that he would swim across the canal behind his house for $50.
Authorities say an inebriated Timothy Jordan stripped down to
his boxers and jumped into the canal, but began struggling about halfway across.
Divers recovered the man's body just after 4 a.m.
Jordan would have turned 46 on Tuesday.
