Riviera Beach, Florida (AP) --

The 15-year-old boy who witnessed the shooting deaths of his mother and four siblings at their South Florida home has been released from the hospital.

Michael Barnett says his son was released from St. Mary's
Medical Center on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Ryan Barnett was shot during the rampage at his family's Riviera
Beach home on Sept. 27. Police say Barnett's stepfather, Patrick
Dell, shot his estranged wife and four of her children.

Two children Dell had fathered were not harmed. Ryan Barnett was
shot in the neck but survived.

A funeral service for Natasha Whyte-Dell and her children is
scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9.

[UPDATE] (9-28 2:57PM) --

A jealous husband who fatally shot his estranged wife and four stepchildren told child welfare investigators earlier this year he would never harm the children.

A report released on September 28 by The Department of Children and
Families shows the agency investigated in January after 41-year-old
Patrick Dell threatened his wife with a knife, yelling "You will
be going to the morgue."

Dell was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,
but Natasha Whyte-Dell didn't want to press charges.

A child protective investigator said "risk to the seven victim
children in this case is low." DCF closed the case in February.

Dell also wounded a 15-year-old stepchild, before killing
himself Monday, Sept. 27. He spared two biological children during the
attack.

[UPDATE] (9-27 1:22) --

Police say a South Florida man who killed his estranged wife and four stepchildren went after the woman with a knife less than a year ago, telling her "you will be going to the morgue."

The woman had locked herself in a bathroom until he left during
that incident.

Riviera Beach Police say Natasha Whyte-Dell had a restraining
order against her estranged husband, Patrick Dell. But a family
friend says Dell followed the woman everywhere and was jealous and
possessive.

Lydia Smith said Monday, Sept. 27 that Natasha Whyte-Dell thought her
husband would change, despite his aggressive behavior.

[UPDATE] (9-27 8:38) --

Police say a South Florida man fatally shot his estranged wife and four stepchildren before turning the gun on himself, but he spared his two biological children who were also at the home.

Authorities say seven children were inside the home early Monday, Sept. 27 when 41-year-old Patrick Dell shot 36-year-old Natasha Whyte-Dell. She and four children were pronounced dead at the scene. All had been shot.

A 15-year-old is being treated at the hospital, but his
condition hasn't been released.

Police say the couple's two biological children are with
relatives.

Riviera Beach, Florida (AP) --

South Florida authorities are at the scene of an apparent murder-suicide that's left six people dead, including four children.

Riviera Beach Police spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown says a police
officer was checking a suspicious vehicle early Monday morning (Sept. 27) when he heard what sounded like muffled gun shots. When the officer approached the home, an unidentified man went outside and shot himself. The man died at the scene.

Inside the home, officers found the bodies of the man's
estranged wife and four children, believed to be ages 10 to 15.
Another teen was transported to a hospital, but their condition
wasn't immediately released.
