WTO: U.S. Ban on Chinese Poultry is Illegal

Geneva (AP) --

The World Trade Organization has ruled that a U.S. ban on Chinese poultry is illegal, giving Beijing a win in the first international commerce ruling against the administration of President Barack Obama.

The WTO decision said the U.S. was violating a number of its
trade obligations by preventing Chinese chicken parts from entering
the U.S. market.

The WTO can authorize sanctions against countries failing to
comply with trade rules, but that usually takes years of

The U.S. and China -- the world's largest importer and exporter --
also are arguing over regulations affecting commerce in steel,
poultry, patents and Hollywood films.

Washington can appeal the 184-page verdict handed down on
Wednesday, Sept. 29.

So why don't we tell the WTO to stick it up their yo yo and quit importing anything except oil from anybody? Prices might go up, but employment would skyrocket if we just used what we manufactured and let other nations do the same. And the deficit would soon be non-existent because of the tax revenue that would be generated.

Imports are driven by sales, no sales, no need to import. Simple economics. We have all the chicken we need right here.

So, how do we know if we are getting poultry from China? I, for one, do not want to buy poultry from there. Wasn't the ban because a LOT of their poultry had some kind of virus that is harmful to humans if they eat the poultry? So the WTO wants to poison Americans? Huh, imagine that. We are the country that every other country comes to when they need bailing out, but some of those same countries hate us and won't support us. Let's turn the other cheek and get slapped around some more. Frankly, I'm tired of the whole governmental establishment. When are they going to start looking out for the interest of American Citizens instead of taxing us to death and giving free assistance to those that won't work and making those of us that do work hard for our pay shoulder the burden of paying for them. There are lots of jobs out there. Just because they aren't the job you want, they are still a job. Have some pride in yourself and stop taking handouts.

With the lack of adequate regulatory inspections and oversight of China's products I would never trust this poultry! We've already seen too many recalls of their toys, etc Buy from your local farms!

Since when do we have to obey rules from an organization like this? This is simple folks, if it's not a USA product - don't buy it. If OweBummer had any guts he'd tell these guys where to shove it, I'd throw them out of the country and the United Nations would be next. The USA is not the world's doormat.
