Florida Traffic Stop Results in Seizure of Handguns and Assault Rifle

Tallahassee, Florida –

Col. David Dees, Director of the Florida Department of
Transportation’s Office of Motor Carrier Compliance (OMCC) announced the arrest of Kirk McField 25, and Kristophe Green 27, both of Camden, NJ, on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On Thursday, Sept. 23 at 2:20 p.m. OMCC Officer William Henderson stopped a van driven by McField on I-10 at the 44 mile marker for a broken windshield.
Due to suspicion of criminal activity Officer Henderson requested assistance from a Crestview Police Department K9 unit. Subsequent to a K9 alert, a search discovered three handguns and an SKS assault rifle. The three handguns were hidden in a compartment behind the glove box and the assault rifle was concealed underneath the rear bench seat.

Further investigation revealed that McField and his passenger Green were both convicted felons. McField and Green were booked into the Okaloosa County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation continues with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
