Tallahassee, FL (AP) - The University of Florida has notified
239 former students that a computer security breach has compromised
their Social Security numbers and other personal data.
School officials said they mailed letters to the former students
Wednesday. They could not find contact information for another 54
students.
The information was part of a web-accessible archive of computer
science class information created by a faculty member in 2003.
The website was removed from a server immediately after it was
discovered last month.
The university had used Social Security numbers to double as
student identification numbers until 2003 when the practice was
stopped.
Officials said they were unsure whether the information was
accessed or used.

At the time I got my SS# there was a warning printed right on the card...Not For Identification...and then some idiot elected to Congress got that changed. It's not just the current elected people who lack brains and integrity.
