*** UPDATE 10-4-2010 5:40 PM ***

A SWAT callout is over and residents of Emerald Acres can now return home.

An LCSO spokesman says a man around 40 years of age barricaded himself in a home in the 8700 block of Opal Drive this afternoon. That's right near the intersection of Highway 90 and Crump Road.

Sgt James McQuaig says the man was distraught and they got word he may have been armed. Officials says the man made statemets threatening to harm himself and police officers.

SWAT team members had surrounded the home and after three hours, negotiators talked the man into surrendering. That happened just minutes before 5:30.

There was no one else in the home at the time, and the man is now in custody. McQuaig says the man has not been charged with anything at this point, but has been sent for medical evaluation.

TRUTH-totally AGREE WITH YOU. Uncalled for! Close Friend I'll keep the whole family in my thoughts. To look out and see what ya saw is scary. We had a bomb squad out once at our neighbor hood. That was YEARS ago,yet I still remember it. Hey!! What in the world were you doing going outside with the kids. If something had happen to you or one of your kids,i'd bet you'd wish ya had STAYED inside. PEOPLE NEVER NEVER GO OUT SIDE to see what is going on like that. It IS NOT SMART.

He'll be fine. Counseling, sleep, food, more counseling and he can deal with the big troubles of his life. Keep the girls and wife in your prayers.

It was scary. I looked out my window to find swat evacutating my neighbors. I saw a police officer in full armor with a huge gun. I was so scared. I would never have thought I would see this other than watching it on tv. I hope he is alright and that he can overcome everything that is going on with him.

It was pretty scary to walk outside with my children with swat teams lined up at my neighbor's house. Regardless, I wish for peace for this family through whatever tough time they are going through.
