Associated Press Release
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- A 2-year-old boy is recovering after he fell into a pit of hot coals at a St. Petersburg campground.
Pinellas County sheriff's officials say Jonathan Moore was riding a scooter Sunday on a patio at the KOA Campground. They say he lost his balance and fell onto the coals.
His mother and other relatives pulled him from the pit, called 911 and administered first aid.
The boy was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where he was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Deputies say he suffered first- and second-degree burns on his back, left arm and left leg.
