Belleview, FL (AP) - A 2-year-old slipped out of his home unnoticed and was later found in the backyard swimming pool.

Marion County Sheriff's deputies say the child's mother, Melody
Mitchell, told them she fell asleep while watching television with
the boy around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

When Mitchell's boyfriend arrived home about 8:40 p.m., he
noticed the sliding glass door was open. Marke Madore told deputies
he went outside and saw the gate to the pool fence was open. Madore
says he then saw the child floating in the pool. He pulled him out
and began CPR.

Emergency personnel continued CPR, but the child was pronounced dead at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
