Tallahassee, Florida --
Preparations are well underway for the 26th annual Tallahassee Thanksgiving Community Dinner to be held at the Big Bend Homeless Coalition’s HOPE Community with an expected attendance of 1,000.
Leon High School Students not only raised the money to provide the turkeys, but are making cornbread stuffing to feed 1000.
2nd Helpin Catering will be smoking all turkeys in their giant smoker. Volunteers will assist with handling and unwrapping turkeys to get them in the smoker.
Lively culinary students will be making Sweet Potato Casserole for 1000 in Building 3 at Lively.
Volunteers will set up "big-top" Tents, tables & chairs and organize all the donated Jackets, blankets and other items for distribution to those in need on November 24. Final food preparation: loading the coolers with the food prepared by the schools, kitchen & dining room set-up and getting ready for guests.
Volunteers are still needed: Call 205-5228. Donations of coats, blankets, backpacks and personal hygiene items are being accepted at America's 2nd Harvest of the Big Bend (562-3033 x 202) and Premier Construction (514-1000) or may be dropped off at Big Bend Homeless coalition on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
