4 Acre Wildfire Off HWY 221 in Madison

On Thursday afternoon, personnel from the Florida Division of Forestry, Greenville Volunteer Fire Dept., Sirman Volunteer Fire Dept., Madison County Sheriff’s Office and FHP responded to a wildfire in Madison County off of Hwy 221, South of I-10. It was determined that the 4 acre wildfire was caused by power lines. Tri-County Electric was also on scene. No structures were threatened or damaged by the fire. The wildfire, which is contained at this time, continues to smolder, and DOF crews continue to monitor the burned area. Motorists traveling in the area should use caution for the next few days due to the possibility of smoke on the highway.
