(2009) U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE PRESS RELEASE:
US Marshals arrest Tallahassee Sexual Assault Suspect and Jacksonville Murder Suspect.
The US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force culminated a month long fugitive investigation late last night when US Marshals in Atlanta, GA crashed through the door of a home in Norcross, GA. Inside the residence was one of Tallahassee’s most wanted fugitives, Jose Ruben Marin-Galan, a 38 year old alien from El Salvador who was accused of sexual assaulting a young Tallahassee girl multiple times over the course of two years. Marin-Galan first came to the attention of the Tallahassee Police Department in September of this year after a family member of the victim advised police of the allegations. Marin-Galan was living in St. Paul, Minnesota when warrants were issued for his arrest by the Leon County State Attorney’s Office on September 14, 2009 for two counts of Sexual Assault on a Child Under the Age of 12. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minnesota attempted to arrest Marin-Galan in conjunction with the TPD investigation but the suspect fled before ICE agents were able to locate him. The US Marshals task force was contacted by the Leon County State Attorney’s Office for assistance in locating Marin-Galan and was able to track the fugitive from St. Paul, MN to a family friend’s home in Norcross, GA. After several weeks of intensive investigation, Jose Ruben Marin-Galan was spotted by a US Marshals surveillance team late yesterday afternoon in the 5000 block of Bishops Circle, Norcross, GA. US Marshals gained entry into the residence where officers arrested Marin-Galan as he sat on a sofa drinking beer and watching television. Marin-Galan is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Jail and awaits extradition back to Tallahassee, FL where he will face the above local charges and possible federal immigration violation charges.
