Bark for Life Raises Money to Fight Cancer

Tallahassee, FL- Tom Brown Park went to the dogs Saturday.

Organizers say around 100 dogs and their owners participated in the first ever Bark for Life. The dogs and their owners did a lap around the park.

Bark for Life raises money for the American Cancer Society.

It also honors canine caregivers such as therapy, police and seeing eye dogs.

It was hosted by the American Cancer Society and Florida State University's Relay for Life team.

The group says the walked raised around $2,000 dollars.

The American Cancer Society Bark For Life & Relay For Life of FSU is a fundraising event honoring the life-long contributions of our Canine Caregivers. Canine Caregivers are Canine Companions, Guide Dogs, Service Dogs, Rescue Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Police Dogs, Cancer Survivor Dogs, and Diagnostic Dogs.

The American Cancer Society Bark For Life is an irresistible way to partner with your canine best friend, smile, and make new friends – canine & human.

Families and their dogs come together for a few hours during the day and complete a walk to honor the care giving qualities of their canine “Best Friends” and cancer survivors.

The Bark For Life and the FSU Relay For Life are fundraising events to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. The advantage of the Bark is that we have fun fundraising with our best buddies – our dogs!

There will also be:
• Doggie games
• Top dog & dress up contests
• Team and community fundraising
• Music and Food

This event will be held at Tom Brown Park around the Lake near the Dog Park. Registration will begin at 1pm. It is $10 per person and $5 per dog. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 2pm!Relay for Life at FSU teams will be able to receive spirit points for attending. All proceeds raised will go to your team totals as well!
