Tallahassee, Florida - July 9, 2012 -
The Big Bend Mental Health Coalition invited candidates in three local races for offices. The coalition says these offices will have the opportunity to impact the future of Mental Health Court and Veterans' Dockets in Leon County.
Members say the number of defendants in jail with mental health problems has increased partially because of the suspension of the Mental Health Court Dockets last August.
Candidates present in the race for Circuit Judge, 2nd Judicial Circuit are Barbara Hobbs and incumbent Josefina Tamayo. Cris Dunn is not present for the forum.
Tommy Mills, Lisa Sprague, and Major Mike Wood, who is in for Sheriff Larry Campbell, are present from the Leon County Sheriff race.
From the race of Leon County Clerk of Court are incumbent Bob Inzer and his challenger Cynthia Turner.
Coalition and community members are asking the candidates how they would handle mental health issues if elected.
