WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) -- The body camera worn by a slain central Florida police officer was turned off when he stopped two young people on foot and was killed.
Homicide detectives had hoped the camera would shed further light into what happened to Windermere Police Officer Robert German.
German called for backup and was found shot dead early Saturday in the Orlando suburb. The bodies of the two teens he is believed to have stopped were found nearby.
Investigators believe they committed suicide.
On Tuesday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office released copies of letters written by 18-year-old Brandon Goode and 17-year-old Alexandria Hollinghurst. Goode wrote in one that he didn't want to go through life knowing he had amounted to nothing.
