PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) -- Officials say several bridges have closed because of winter weather in the Florida Panhandle.
The Florida Highway Patrol closed the Interstate 10 Escambia Bay bridge Tuesday evening because of vehicle crashes. At least a half-dozen other bridges around Escambia and Santa Rosa counties have also been partially or completely closed. The Interstate 10 bridge connecting Florida and Alabama over the Perdido River was down to one lane.
The Pensacola News Journal (http://goo.gl/LsRcen) reports that thousands of residents lost power, but Gulf Power already had crews out repairing lines Tuesday evening.
