TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- March 23, 2011 --

The United Kingdom's ambassador to the United States has urged support for free trade and stressed its importance to Florida during a visit to the state Capitol.

Nigel Sheinwald addressed the Florida Senate and had a meeting
scheduled with Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday.

Scheinwald told lawmakers that the United Kingdom is Florida's
largest foreign employer with 44,000 Floridians working for British
companies.

He said the United Kingdom wants to strengthen those economic
ties, noting Manchester University's business school was opening a
branch in Miami on Wednesday.

A British trade mission to Florida's Space Coast also is planned
for next week.

Forget "free trade" - we need to have FAIR trade. Free trade (NAFTA,CAFTA) only made sure we lost manufacturing jobs here and made us dependant on buying goods from other nations that WE used to make to be sold by local retailers.
