An explosion temporarily shuts down a factory in Taylor County.
On Sunday, a machine malfunctioned at Buckeye Technologies, sending employees into a sprint. The incident happened just before 5:30pm. Company leaders say a failure of a steam drum on a paper machine caused a lot of damage. They also say this is the first incident of its kind in the company's 60 year history. The factory will stay closed until they figure out what exactly happened.

A local factory, Buckeye Technologies in Taylor County, has temporarily shut down after a machine malfunctioned. Some local residents characterized the malfunction as an explosion.
Buckeye officials say around 5:20 pm Sunday the failure of a steam drum on the number 2 paper machine caused damage to multiple drums. It also caused structural damage to the paper machine building. Right after the incident, the plant was closed down.
They say no one was injured and they are currently investigating. At this point, officials say it is too early to know the extent of the damage and how long it will take to resume production.
Buckeye is a manufacturer and marketer of fibers and non-woven materials.
The Perry facility focuses on wood cellulose fibers.
Local law enforcement officials say no one was dispatched since there were no injuries.
