A Miami businessman has been given the go ahead to begin collecting signatures for a ballot initiative to oust Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez.
The county clerk of courts approved the recall petition form
Wednesday, Oct. 6.
Billionaire Norman Braman must collect signatures from at least
four percent of registered voters, the equivalent of about 52,000
people, within 60 days.
If he succeeds, the issue would be placed before voters in a
Braman is seeking Alvarez's removal in dispute of a new county
budget that increases property tax rates.
Alvarez has noted that the budget was approved by the county
