Capital City Dodgeball Tournament to Benefit Special Olympics

Tallahassee, Florida - April 8, 2011 -

On Saturday April 9, 2011, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the Tallahassee Police Department will host the 1st Annual Capital City Dodgeball Tournament at the Leon High School Gym.

This tournament is open to anyone 18 years of age or older and groups or organizations are invited to come out and join in the fun for this worthy cause. All teams must consist of 6 people and may have up to 2 alternates. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Gym, so get
there early. The cost for registration is $120.00 per team and the proceeds will be donated to benefit the Special Olympics. If you haven’t already, get your team together and be prepared for a lot of fast paced fun.

and other information about this event are also available on the website.

Also, the Special Olympics will take place this Saturday as well. Over 300 special athletes from seven surrounding counties will be competing for a chance to go to the state games in May. Special athletes will be competing in Soccer, Track and Field and Tennis. The games begin at 8:00 a.m. on the Leon High School athletic fields. Ceremonies for the games are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Everyone is invited to come out and show their support for the athletes of Special Olympics Florida.
