ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau show household income in Florida continues to stagnate almost five years from the depth of recession.
The Census figures released Thursday also show that Florida's largest metro areas -- South Florida, Tampa and Orlando -- rank at the bottom in income levels for the nation's most populous cities.
Florida's median household income in 2012 of over $45,000 decreased slightly from the previous year, but the change was statistically insignificant.
However, Florida's median household income is down more than 11 percent from when it was $50,700 in 2000.
Only seven other states had higher decreases in the past dozen years.
