PORT ORANGE, Fla. (AP) -- A 75-year-old central Florida woman is accused of stealing and giving away her neighbor's purebred golden retriever.

Volusia County spokesman Gary Davidson says Celeste Neese is accused of stealing the dog, named Dumpling, earlier this month after complaining the animal was mistreated.

She faces several charges, including grand theft, dealing in stolen property and giving false information during a felony investigation.

Neese told investigators she did not steal the dog or send owner Wayne Dreier an anonymous letter claiming the dog lives a "lonely life outside."

Investigators say a Wal-Mart security camera recorded Neese giving the dog to a couple. They turned it over to a Flagler County shelter after they learned the dog was stolen.

Dreier told the Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1hspX6O) he's happy Dumpling is home.
