Tallahassee, Florida --

Tallahassee Mayor John Marks will begin his third term as Mayor.

Commissioner Gil Ziffer will begin his first elected term as commission having taking the position only after Alan Katz stepped down. Ziffer was also elected Mayor Pro Tem.

Commission elect, Nancy Miller was sworn in. "I'm honored by the number of people who have worked so hard to help me get elected. That is just the beginning of civic engagement as far as I'm concerned because we have challenges ahead of us but those challenges can be net. But people have got to get involved."

Miller is taking Debbie Lightsey seat who is retiring after 21 years of service to Tallahassee.

Lightsey says she's had her hand in a lot of projects that make Tallahassee what it is today and has no doubt the elected officials will carry Tallahassee forward.

You know i work on 20 during the late 90's. I agree with you. The traffic is horible. From6am-8am orlater it was like you said it was backup all the way to and past the county line. The same way after 4pm. I left from there about 5yrs ago. It was on the way to being worse. Now it seems I work the opposite side and I do go that way to work. I agree with you. They could take Millers little project and more than likely take the money to buy all that extra land and done 20 with it.Lets see just much waste she can do now that she has alittle more POWER. I not sure about the others and what kind of waste they will manage, but they will manage, that we will be sure of.

wELL Miller LOVES TO SPEND OUR MONEY. She loves to brag about her involement with the Blueprint 2000. What a waste of money.CK out all the extra land that was bought for what was to be A 6 LANE RD. Just really size it up. They could have made it a 10 lane. I WONDER what she will waste our money on Next. Oh wait they haven't finish wasting. When are they going to widen roads that NEED IT. Hwy20 for one. Needed it for at least 10 or more years. Talk about bumper to bumper. I am sure there are lots more roads to widen than wasting more on buying more land than is needed. Use the money BETTER. Sure!!!!

With a 2-1 Democratic registration advantage, is it any wonder that tax and spend extremists continue to get elected? Tallahassee voters get what they deserve for continuing to support the party of bankruptcy. Thank goodness the rest of the state isn't so foolish.

Well Franklin, go file and run for one of the seats next time. I will vote for you probably. Because I keep looking for alternatives on the ballots to the tax and spend crowd and there are none.

With this commission who must reduce taxes on the citizenry, reduce utility costs by means of mixed fuel, ($50,000,000 per year savings to the city)eliminate the practice of 'make work' projects (mini obama stimulus)and remove themselves from the economic playing field, we have a poor excuse for elected officials who are in charge of our town. They feel that they are the job creators when all they are are money bleeders. There are only about 8 cities in Florida that are more expensive to live in than Tallahassee and we are a tiny little town. Go figure!!!
