Tallahassee, Florida --
The City of Tallahassee Utilities is cutting its rates.
The city is cutting its electric rate about 3.5% , and natural gas is decreasing by about 11%.
The utility company says similar rate cuts are expected in October and again a year from now.
For Tallahassee residents, they say even a small decrease in price can help.
Tallahassee Resident Sue Gross said, "I think it's terrific. Anything we can do to save a little money here or there during these hard times is wonderful."
Since March of 2009, both natural gas and electric have decreased around 22 % each.
City officials said the reason they're able to have these cuts is because they've locked in the city's fuel costs for the next year.
