Tallahassee, FL -- First year Leon County Commissioner Mary Ann Lindley would like to see all private gun sales require a three to five day background check.

The check is already in place for businesses that sell guns. It would mean that private sellers at gun shows, flea markets, and even garage sales would have to run the check on customers.

"It's just endless, the mass shootings, the suicides, so it's a way for Leon County to step up and say 'we want to be able to interrupt this violence, if possible.' And the gun shows, I think it's where a lot of slippery business can take place," said Lindley.

The item is expected to be placed on the Leon County Commission agenda in December. From there, commissioners can call for a public hearing or vote on the issue.
