MADISON, FL. –
State Attorney Robert L. “Skip” Jarvis, Jr., announced the jury verdict, conviction and sentence of DIONTE JERMAINE DAVIS for the April, 2010, home invasion attempted murder, sexual battery and arson of an elderly Madison County resident. The trial was held this week before Judge Gregory Parker and a jury which heard three days of testimony. This complex case involved nearly 100 exhibits, expert testimony involving DNA evidence, ballistics and shoe print evidence. The State also presented extensive medical testimony. Assistant State Attorney Dean Morphonios lead the State’s prosecution team. The law enforcement investigation was done by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from FDLE.
Judge Parker sentenced Davis to three life terms in prison and 30 years in prison on the arson count, all to run concurrent. The trial and verdict brings an end and conclusion of this horrible crime for the victim.
Mr. Jarvis said, “This man committed a senseless crime of invading the home of the elderly victim in the dead of night. He shot her in the face with a handgun and sexually assaulted her. He set fire to the contents of her home. We are grateful that she was able
to survive this terrible crime and glad she is making her recovery. This case, as are all of the cases we prosecute, is important to me and important to the victim. I’m pleased with the work done by my staff.”
