A car crash in Madison County (12/12) leaves a 2-year-old child in critical condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

The little girl, whose name is only being released as, L. Gant, was riding in the car on the driver's side, when an oncoming car crossed the center line and side swiped the vehicle.

The crash took place at the intersection of Sirmans Road and US Highway 221, just South of I-10.

The child was transported to Tallahassee Memorial where she remains in critical condition.

The other two people involved in the crash had no injuries.

Thank you, TallyTrashTalks2! There will always be idiots, but I'm constantly floored that there are people who feel it's acceptable to joke about something as terrible as this. I can't even comprehend where they're coming from...also tired of the people who speculate and place blame without the facts....there seem to be a few people who have nothing better to do than troll this website making ignorant and insensitive comments on topics they know nothing about. In times of tragedy it shows a lack of human decency to behave this way.

For all the families/friends involved in this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. No one should have to go through what you are going through. May God comfort you all and bring you peace.

@Cousin of the little Girl: It's tough when people are hurt in accidents regardless of how it happens or who is at fault. It's especially tough when a small helpless child gets injured. I'm praying for the best for your family and that this precious little girl will overcome her injuries. As for comments made by "Well I Heard" and "J Timney", apparently neither of you have ever lost a small child related to you in any type of accident. If you had that experience for yourself (I have) or even respect for people, it would be clear to you there is a time for "jokes" if life, but also a time to refrain from showing the world your ignorance.

I was the first one on scene at the wreck. The child was properly restrained in a car seat, in the back seat directly behind the driver's seat. Another vehicle crossed the center line and struck the car the child was in. A metal object from the other vehicle came through the windshield of the car, passed by the mother who was driving and lodged into the childs head. EMS made the decision to life flight the child and did not think the child would make it to the hospital. The child actually died in the back of the ambulance and EMS was able to get the child back and onto the helicopter. This is all FACT! This poor family does not need any of the negative comments posted by a few IDIOTS. They need prayers and support as there are dealing with a terrible tradgedy that no parent wants to suffer through.

JustMe, this is for you…The parents are not wealthy but they were able to afford a car seat which was installed in the vehicle on the driver side where the child sits when the vehicle is moving. Instead of looking for fault try looking in your bible for a decent prayer for this little girl and her family.

The child was restrained in a carseat and the carseat was restrained properly. Just behind the drivers seat. Sad day for this family! They need your prayers, not your negative comments
