Tallahassee, FL (AP) - Governor Charlie Crist has extended an
emergency order lifting weight restrictions on trucks transporting
freeze-threatened crops for two more weeks through Dec. 31.

Crist's original order was issued Dec. 10 and it will expire

Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson, who requested the
extension, said Thursday that it's needed to help farmers harvest
as much of their crops as possible before they are damaged by the
current cold snap.

Bronson said once crops such as citrus fall to the ground they
no longer can be salvaged so farmers are trying to get them picked
and sent to market before that happens.
