The length of the cross country course is a little more than two miles and is the same course the horses compete on the day before.

The Red Hills International Horse Trials is a prestigious Tallahassee horse trial that occurs every year.

But, this year Runners will have a chance to test their skills with a new Cross Country Challenge.

The race will take place Sunday, March 11 at 8:30 a.m.

The length of the course is a little more than two miles and is the same course the horses compete on the day before.

To assist with the new race, a trial run featuring high school students from Maclay School took place today.

Officials say having the students test out the course will help them answer questions people may have before the event.

"We get to try out lots of different things and this was one of the best ones," said Matt Antworth, track and field athlete at Maclay.

"It took them about 20 minutes and they were able to give us a lot of pointers as organizers as to how to make it a very successful race for anybody," Brooke Lochore with Access Tallahassee.

The horse trials will begin March 9.
