DCF Secretary Wilkins Announces Key Leadership Positions

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – March 29, 2011 --

The Department of Children and Families Secretary David
Wilkins announced the addition of three key members to the management team that will help guide the Department toward the mission of a more efficient and effective agency that places the protection of the state’s most vulnerable children and adults as the priority.

“Our agency’s employees deserve strong leadership to support their selfless
work in helping others and our state’s taxpayers deserve the best talent at
every level,” said Wilkins. “I am proud to work with accomplished
professionals in Tallahassee and around the state. These leadership
appointments will round out our management team and I know I have the
support necessary to lead this Department’s employees in pursuing and
achieving the quality of care that Floridians need and expect.”

Vivian Myrtetus will join the Department as Chief of Staff, overseeing the
agency’s communications, external affairs, legislative affairs and
executive staff. Vivian most recently served as deputy chief of staff for
U.S. Sen. George LeMieux. She has served in leadership positions in both
the private and public sector and her experience includes strategic public
relations management with a special focus in public policy and issue

Kristin Vallese will be the Department’s Director of Executive
Communication, managing a myriad of duties including correspondence, client
relations and internal and external communications. Kristin was recently
the interim CEO and Director of Outreach and Operations for the Florida
Children’s Services Council and has extensive experience in management,
strategic communications and legislative affairs. Previously, Kristin was
the Director of Communications for the Florida Association of Counties and
the Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects.

John F. Davis will serve as the Director of External Affairs focusing on
grassroots outreach to develop and maintain critical relationships with
community partners and associations. John was most recently president of
the JFD Consulting Group where he worked closely with community leaders and
organizations to advocate for their issues. John graduated from The Florida
State University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science
and a minor in Criminology.

    DCF only needs the swastika to be raised over it's building. They have complete and absolute power to ruin familys, with no reprecussions to hold them back. Hiring 3 more people is only gonna cost tax payers and familys more money and pain!

    This is good bring in the new they need better ideas and a great opp. to get rid of those many return droppers and put in new fresh ideas. There's more gray up there then at the old folks home and they have ran the place for years the same it needs a overhaul.They also need to work on not just personel but a better system also this is one of the reasons for so much things getting pass them they have a old system with no one to fix it.

    The only thing this will do is add some friends to the payroll AT OUR EXPENSE!!!!! nothing will change. they will still have incompetent, uncomprehending individuals working for them. Why can't they just CLOSE UP????
