Delivery Driver Robbed of Cash & Sandwiches

2.23.2011 7:15pm by Julie Montanaro

A delivery driver is robbed and beat up in Tallahassee this afternoon and our cameras happened to be rolling when one of the suspects arrived at the Leon County Sheriff's Office in handcuffs.

Investigators say 17 year old Herbert James was one of three men who attacked a Jimmy John's driver as he tried to deliver sandwiches on Joe Louis Street.

Deputies are still looking for the two others.

They say they took the driver's cash, phone and even his sandwiches.

ummm, nope. no tyrone with me. i was alone and heading to a friends house who lives in that area. we go to church together and i was lost trying to get to her house. so yea i was on a cell phone walking through there and not realizing what street i was on until i got to a sign and let her know. nothing happened at all. so what if ppl have bars on their window, it doesn't mean that something always is going to happen. they like to order food too and there are plenty of good people hidden in the midst of bad ones. trailor parks have a bad name but none of you seem to be freaking out and scared of them b/c you're white too. you can't live your life being scared of people just because they're different. i refuse to live my life that way. sorry i'm stronger then most of you. i guess none of you were trained to live your life that way. sorry i stand up for what i know instead of judging too.

In the past, when food delivery drivers refused to enter high-crime areas, they were, of course, called racists. So be it. At times one is required to do what is necessary (and intelligent) as opposed to what liberals believe to be right. Stop catering to worthless scum!

Allow delivery drivers to carry a gun or weapon. No one wants to die over $25 and some sandwiches. Those are some dang good sammiches tho, I can see why they wanted them.

Sarah, your story may be true- the people that would have done anything to you were probably in another part of town 'working'. I have worked near that road and seen everything from vandalism by 10 year olds to more that required police attention immediatley.

Sarah, I'd much rather be paranoid than naive. The issue isn't this one street, but the entire area as a whole. Stereotyping? Seriously? I guess the bars on the windows and doors are just the new chic style in the neighborhood...you know, because crime is so far and few between.

Sarah, I know your story is made up to support your silly opinion. If you did walk there you probably had your boyfriend Tyrone protecting you.

It's past time to begin thinning the herd. People who think this behavior is acceptable need to be removed from society. And since possible jail time doesn't seem to be a deterrent, I don't feel that any more of our tax dollars should be spent in this area. Fill the cargo hold of an airplane with as many of these cretins as will fit, fly 300 miles out into the Gulf, and open the bombay doors. If they can swim back, so be it. Otherwise, we have spent very little money and no longer have these leeches living off of the rest of us without contributing to the common good.

seriously? you all are a bunch of scared people. I'm white and walked along joe louis with no problems at all whatsoever. no i'm not some ghetto chick either. i didn't even know i was on that street until i looked at the sign, that's how undangerous it is. it was just given a stereotype b/c of past occurances. honestly, this is the first thing we've heard come from that area in a looonnnnggg time. stop freaking out about it.
