MIAMI (AP) -- Authorities say a Delta plane's engine failed in mid-air over Florida, forcing the flight to make an emergency landing. The FAA says it was a so-called "contained" engine failure, meaning small parts such as fan blades came out the back of the engine. No one was hurt and the plane returned to Fort Lauderdale safely.

You should show up an hour before scheduled departure, not an adjusted time. Standard flying procedure. Takeoffs and landings can be rough at any time. Are you a pilot? How would you know what caused it to be rough. As for your landing, aren't you glad he didn't finish landing in heavy gusts and possibly crash the plane? I think you should be thanking your pilot for keeping you alive rather than complaining about something that is completely subjective to thousands of variables.

I had a very bad experience with Delta over the weekend. First they delayed the time of my flight, and when I showed up (an hour early) to check in, they said I was too late because the flight was actually leaving on time. The employees were terribly rude and then attempted to charge me for rescheduling. They kept saying the flight times are liable to change. Then, the take off was rough because the plane didn't accelerate fast enough before banking and the rear of the plane felt like it would snap off. Then on the connecting flight, it was so windy at landing the pilot aborted with about 20 feet to go and took off again. The sound of wretching from my fellow passengers was louder than the engine. I'm done with Delta.
