TALLAHASSEE - Dianne Williams-Cox will publicly announce her plans to run for the Florida House of Representatives District 8 on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. The announcement will be made on the steps of City Hall in Quincy, FL.
"I am ready to work for the citizens of District 8 as these are my friends, family, and neighbors. As a Quincy native, I grew up here and raised my own family right here. My heart and soul are embedded into making changes that will help all of the people in this district and throughout the state of Florida," stated Dianne.
Dianne is a community leader who has worked to provide the youth of our community with quality living experiences through her efforts as President of the Capital Park Junior Major League Baseball Association. Dianne, a strong advocate of accountability in our community, has sought to increase voter participation and awareness through her leadership as Region 1 Chair of the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida.
Dianne’s candidacy for Florida House, District 8 will mark a longtime goal, which started in a government class at James A. Shanks High School, to serve and help shape this amazing community in which she grew up.
Florida House District 8 covers Gadsden County and parts of Leon County. The seat is currently held by State Representative Alan Williams (D-Tallahassee).
