Associated Press Release
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Alachua County Animal Services officials say they don't have any leads in the case of a dog that was severely beaten at a Gainesville apartment complex.
The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1695nUb ) reports three children -- ages 9, 10 and 12 -- saw a man beating the dog on Sept. 12. They told police the man choked the dog with her leash, then removed her collar and beat her with it.
Authorities say the older child told the man he needed to take care of the dog and the man ran. The family of one of the children called animal services, which took the dog for emergency care.
The dog remains in the medical wing of the Animal Services department with a deep gash in her head, a skull fracture and bruises.
