Tallahassee, FL -- May 30, 2012 --

On Tuesday, Dr. Catherine Kunst, executive director of the Leon County Research and Development Authority (LCRDA) and Innovation Park, resigned from her post.

Dr. Kunst cited a desire to pursue other professional development opportunities. When she interviewed for the position, Kunst mentioned that the challenges that existed at the time with
the authority attracted her to the job. She believes the park is in a very good place based on her original goals and the authority has stabilized with a strong foundation for the future. Authority officials agree.

"As a board, we are truly appreciative of the professionalism and expertise that Dr. Kunst brought to Innovation Park," said Ray Eaton, chairman of the LCRDA Board of Governors. "This has been a transformative time and I believe that we are well poised to continue to make progress thanks to her hard work.”

For the next month, Dr. Kunst will actively work with the Board of Governors and staff to make the pending transition as smooth as possible.

The LCRDA Chairman has requested that Leon County government provide administrative support staff to the authority during this transition. An agenda item for consideration by the Leon County Board of County Commissioners regarding the LCRDA Chairman’s request is anticipated for the June 12 commission meeting.

"During my experience on the LCRDA board, Dr. Kunst brought a great balance of strategy, innovation and administrative guidance to the authority," said Commissioner Kristin Dozier, a member of the LCRDA Board of Governors. "Obviously, this is a great loss for our
community, but we are grateful to be in a much better position moving forward."

Kunst's last day will be Friday, July 6, 2012.

She was totally inept. A total bit-ch. And she isn't leaving; she was fired. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Good for her. Another intelligent person with ability getting out of this redneck crime ridden hellhole of the deep south. She was in Denver since the early 90's and lasted here what, two years. I bet she doesn't look in her rear view mirror either.

Wasted a year and a half of time. Paid approximately $172.000 in salary and plus moving expenses. The recruitment process has to be started all over again. I wonder how much the taxpayer has benefited. What was the beneficial work produced for this expenditure of public money. Find someone capable that needs a job with staying power.

This person was not even from around here. She didn't know who the shister players were. Yeah, how much did the tax payer benefit from her "moving here" and "drawing a salary"??

Find somebody that likes barbecue. There is good barbecue on every street corner here. You could eat at a different barbecue place every day here and never get used to the same place anytime soon. That'll keep somebody here.

This is a sad commentary about our future! Insiders know that Kunst is leaving because Innovation Park is a complete joke! Ms. Kunst is one of the most qualified people we have ever had in a position like hers. We talk about students that graduate and do not stay, but what about people like Kunst and Bill Law at TCC. This a reflection of a major problem we have in this community - a lack of real leadership!!! No one will talk about this - we are in denial!
