UPDATED 10-07 AT 7:00PM

The family of a man found shot to death inside his home in Perry is speaking out about the mystery surrounding his murder.

Phillip McNeal received a call early Monday morning that most younger brothers never expect. His brother, 47-year-old Eric McNeal, had been found murdered inside his home.

Phillip says for now he's pushed all his emotions to the side until his brother's killer is found.

"I haven't had time to grieve. I'm so into trying to get this thing solved. So once this is over and we can get is solved, I can reflect on a lot of stuff we went through in our lives," said Phillip McNeal.

The call came in to the Perry Police Department around 1 am Monday morning. When they arrived at 1604 South Givens street they found McNeal shot to death inside his home.

Family and friends say McNeal was a friendly person and they can't think of anyone who would want to kill him. But they did admit that even good people can have enemies.

"We used to tell him that everybody is not your friend but he just felt like everybody was his friend so he was a very trusting person," said McNeal.

"Its people that envied him and were jealous of him and didn't like him," said Oscar Glenn, a friend of McNeal's.

I spoke with a spokesperson from the Perry Police Department who says they are following leads on suspects right now but would not give any additional information about the investigation.

McNeal's brother says his body is currently at Evan Walkers funeral home and they've made plans to bury him next Saturday in Perry.

And this shooting comes just days after another shooting in Perry, just blocks away.

A deadly shooting in Perry; this one comes just five days after the last shooting.

Perry resident Betty McNair said, "Somebody came to my house and knocked on my door. I jumped straight up."

McNair sat around a yard fire in the middle of the night because she says she couldn't go back to sleep.

That knock on the door was to tell her that 47-year-old Eric McNeal had been killed just a couple of houses down.

"Ooh, my heart is in my lap." Said, McNair.

Police say they were called to 1604 South Givens Street around 1:00 Wednesday morning.

They say McNeal had been shot and that he died inside of the home. At this time, police aren't releasing any details as to how it happened, exactly where it happened, or who may have pulled the trigger.

McNair said, "I got children, I got nephews and nieces. Everybody here got children around here. It's sad how things are going on. L4 That's my cousin. It's sad."

Annetta Davis says McNeal was an old classmate and that she'd known him all her life.

Davis said, "He was an easy, sweet, nice, any-way-he-can-help-you person. He kept a smile on his face. To just kill him like that; it's beyond me to ever understand."

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Lab was at the home for hours processing the scene.

Neighbors, too, seek answers.

"I can't see a reason why they just would want to kill him." Said, Davis.

Residents say they hope that which was done in the dark, soon comes to light.

Police say they do have people cooperating with the investigation and say information has proved to be viable, but at this time, no arrests have been made.

Anyone with additional information on this shooting is asked to call the Perry Police Department at 850-584-5121.
