Jefferson County, Florida - April 2, 2012 -

Superintendent Bill Brumfield moved Jefferson County Elementary School Principal Valarie Thompson to the adult school in Monticello.

A Jefferson County principal was shifted to a new school just days before the FCAT tests.

That's raising some questions among parents there.

Jefferson County Superintendent Bill Brumfield removed Valarie Thompson as principal at Jefferson County Elementary School.

He moved her to the Jefferson County Adult School. Some school board members say they are surprised by the move since FCAT tests are soon coming up.

A few parents say they weren't notified about the change in leadership.

Superintendent Brumfield denied to comment on this story.

It's never a dull moment in Jefferson County School System. It is so amazing how the superintendent can move a principal so quickly for non probable cause, but the head football coach so we've been told along with an assistant did online work for a student so that he would be elgible to play ball and help win state champ and now the kid is being tossed from one school to another and the coach is being rewarded with more pay! What's up with that? They say it's about the children! Was wctv informed about this?

Monticello school system is a mess from top to bottom. Very few earning paychecks care about the kids. If a person has anything to be proud of, you better stay the heck away from Monticello. The people in the positions to make decisions don't want change because they may have to get off their butts and work for their salary. Mrs Thompson get the Heck out of Mayberry (n my u knw who voice) the town will never change. Joe Clark (Lean on Me) need to come chain the doors at the County Office & send the entire staff packing!

There is a lot of information about Mrs.Thompson that the citizens of Jefferson County are unaware of at this point. However, she is aware...as is the State and Federal investigators. It is the opinion of many that Mrs. Thompson should have been removed prior to this and for many (some quite obviuos) reasons. Try to get past any color/race divisions as this person has been a serious problem for some time.

I don't know the Mrs. Thompson that these other people are commenting about. The one that I have witnessed is rude, mean and a bully.Very unprofessional. She has yelled and screamed at her staff to the point that I thought that she was going to strike someone. We don't need someone like this around children.Take a poll and you would be surprised how often it has happened.

Apparently, using the children for political purposes, such as keeping JCI open or supporting a cause such as Trayvon Martin however good the cause is, is a break in professional ethics. Thanks for pointing out how unprofessional she has been

I have known Mrs. Thompson for quite some time now. I see her as quality mentor and educator. If we the citizens of Jefferson county continue to sit around and complain we will only get the same results. lets show the establishment that we do care about more than football in this community. Mrs Thompson is a quality leader, and well suited for the duties she was given. Mr. Brumield we will remember how you did our kids. To me you are no better than Zimmerman. Although you may not have taken a life you have taken a quality lifeblood from our youngest kids. Black people wake up!!!!! Will we continue to just sit back and take everything that we hear as valid? Stand up and support this lady, its time for our voices to be heard. Reinstall Mrs.Thompson as Principal at Jefferson elementary. If you support her let your voices be heard. Mrs. Thompson I support you.

Obviously you have not been on the other end of one of her out of control rages. If she were white I'm sure you would have a completly different post here! What happened to the FCAT scores from last year? She was the principal. Why won't you question that?
