Tallahassee, FL - December 17, 2012 -The superintendent at FAMU Development and Research School says the student who brought a gun to school never had any behavioral problems.
FAMU DRS was on lock-down Friday afternoon.
Administrators say an 11th grade student brought a gun in his book bag.
The school superintendent says the student approached a teacher to tell her that he wanted to kill himself, then showed the teacher the gun.
The boy was taken into custody.
The superintendent says no other students were involved and no one was injured.
The superintendent says they've never had any problems with the student before. She says he was always to class on time. She says she believes he was stressed and his talks of suicide were impulsive.
Tallahassee, FL - December 14, 2012 -There was a lock-down at FAMU DRS after authorities found a gun there.
Dr. Larry Robinson released this statement:
"This afternoon our FAMU police took into custody a high school male student at the DRS threatening suicide. Officers found a firearm in the student's book bag. The entire DRS campus was placed on lock down to ensure no other threats were present. Based upon these actions we can further ensure a safe campus. Parents were allowed to pick up their children at 3:00 p.M. Today as scheduled. No injuries were reported."
