Tallahassee, FL- Festivities started early Saturday morning with the annual FAMU Homecoming Parade. The parade started at eight and took a route of heading east on Tennessee before turning south on Duval street. Even though is was an overcast morning fans were still out to the see the return of the Marching 100. "It's a breath of fresh air to have the Rattlers Marching 100 back. I'm class of '72 and we promise to be bigger and better as the years go forward and we're representing one end of the great state of Florida to the other," said FAMU Alumnus Bob Turner.

From the parade fans headed to the FAMU campus to start the tailgating festivities. It was a family reunion for everyone on campus visiting with old friends and making new ones. For a new church in town it was a way to fellowship with other rattlers. "We're here with family and friends. We're just having a good time enjoying homecoming 2013 the way FAMU does it," said Janice Harris of Destiny Church.

There was every kind of food option available for the pregame tailgating from fried chicken to strawberry lemonade, even the pickiest of eater had options. For the Orlando based restaurant, The Kings BBQ, it was a chance for them to showcase their good cooking. "Behind this is just a lot of hard work and dedication that's really what it is," said Donnell Johnson, owner of The Kings BBQ.

Along my journey of enjoying the tailgating I ran into a 3-Time Super Bowl Champion, Dee Brown, on his first visit to Florida A&M. "Well I'm I'm here with my wife. She graduated from Florida A&M 17 years ago. This is my first time ever being down here. So I just came flew down from Dallas yesterday," said Brown. He also stated his visit to FAMU has been everything he expected. "Great, it's a great historical black college and it's wonderful. I plan to come back next year with her," said Brown.

The festivities are not over yet. Tonight at seven there will be an open air concert at Howard Hall Lawn and a gospel concert at Lee Hall Auditorium at eight.
