FAMU rattlers filled The Gaither Gymnasium on campus Thursday morning to celebrate their annual black history convocation.
All classes were can celled so students could attend the event in appreciation of black heritage.
Activist, Author and public speaker Kevin Powell was the keynote speaker and gave encouraging words to the students about dreaming big and never giving up on their goals.
FAMU SGA President Gallop Franklin says, "It allows us to have a perspective and really look back and reflect on the African American culture and where it's progressed from the beginning of time to now."
Thursday's convocation also included a performance from the FAMU Gospel Choir and the "University Band."
