Tallahassee, Florida - April 17, 2012 -

Florida A&M University (FAMU) has pushed its Homecoming back to November 10, 2012, to ensure that alumni and other supporters will be able to secure hotel accommodations as the University celebrates its 125th Anniversary.

"With this being the historic 125th anniversary of Florida A&M University, we wanted to allow as many people the opportunity to enjoy the weekend of activities as possible," said Derek Horne, director of athletics at FAMU.

Due to the fact that there is another major event in Tallahassee on the original date set for Homecoming, access to accommodations and other resources were hampered on Oct. 13.

"We have been in discussion with alumni leadership on this matter and the University and the Department of Athletics have both agreed to this solution," said Horne. "FAMU is committed to serving the needs of the university, alumni and community, and this change helps to make this possible."

This year, FAMU will celebrate its 125th Anniversary during Homecoming 2012 and will honor 125 Outstanding Alumni during the President's Gala scheduled Friday, November 9, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Lawson Center. In addition, the Homecoming Convocation is scheduled for Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10:10 a.m.

Rise 'back to the top'? The top of what? Famdump has never been atop the education system.

How did you "child molesters" turn this into a conversation about Robert Champion. We have moved on from the hazing conversation. If you misfits want to dwell on hazing, have at it. And while you're at it, see if you can find a cure for serial murderers, shooting death on campus and rogue student athletes. Life is goooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddddd at FAMU.

The only people that life has been good for are those who swindled money and have not been caught. Terrible university with a terrible education. The management is probably the only thing worse.

FAMU announces a change in Homecoming and once again its a reason for all the BS comments. Robert Champion's death was a horrible tragedy and those responsible will be bought to justice BUT the University has to go on.

Translation.....Hotels were renting to FSU football fans or waiting until they (FSU fans) booked their hotel, therefore we had to change our homecomming date. Maybe the hotels will find another reason not to rent to them (can you blame them). Thanks for the warning, now I know when to plan a week out of town. But who will watch my house?

isn't it time to arrest some people for the MURDER of Robert Champion. FAMU has nothing to celebrate it is a school out of control students, faculty and administration: better yet close the school

They should honor the 125 that have gotten hazed or robbed. In the 70s Fam was a good institution when the black kids were striving for freedom and to get ahead. The kids today just want what's easiest and "owed to them". THE HILL would be a great parking lot location for cascades park.

Given the legal action against the BUS COMPANY in the Robert Chapman murder I can not imagine being a local hotelier that would be willing to rent rooms to FAMU "folks". Talk about begging to get put out of business . . it would simply be a stupid business decision to rent to them. Think about it hoteliers, think hard. Your future could depend on it.
