CROSS CITY, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida Highway Patrol says four people are dead, including two teenagers, after a driver ran through a stop sign in northern Florida.
Witnesses told investigators 35-year-old Eddie Pinner Lazo drove his 2001 Ford pickup early Sunday through a stop sign in Cross City, about 50 miles west of Gainesville.
Lazo struck a 1992 GMC pickup with four people inside. Lazo's vehicle overturned, partially ejecting him from the truck. He was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the GMC pickup and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers identified them as 51-year-old Rayford Lee Enfinger, 35-year-old Julius Jeramia Micale, and 13-year-old Levi Micale. A fourth passenger, 15-year-old Katie Rae Enfinger, died while being taken by ambulance to an awaiting helicopter.
