[UPDATE] 12-10 Noon --

A man accused of stalking sorority girls at FSU via Facebook is arrested.

27-year-old Mitchell Hill of Key West is accused of soliciting naked pictures from college girls.

As we reported last week, Hill used a fake name to befriend at least nine FSU students and dozens more from other southern universities and claimed to be an alumni of the sorority. He made threats to many if they did not comply with his requests for naked photos and other personal information. Hill is being charged with video voyeurism and extortion.

Accepting a friend request on Facebook turned into a scary situation for students at Florida State and several other southern universities.

Someone pretending to be an alumni member of several sororities - asked new members private information about themselves and even sent messages claiming that this was 'a very important ritual done by active alumni' and that 'this information is secretive and not to be discussed with anyone."

"People who are coming into a new social environment like a college or university, they want to be accepted, they want to make friends, they want to become involved in organizations and so this person or persons is preying on that need that people have to have a social connection," says Major Jim Russell with FSU PD.

Many students were threatened when they didn't comply with their requests.

An FSU freshman starting her pledge period at Kappa Delta was one of the first to come forward about the incident, only to learn she wasn't the only one being targeted.

Florida State has sent out several crime prevention bulletins since September to all students and parents of the incident and reminded them that "accepting friend requests from strangers may place you at risk."

"It's scary, it's sad, it's frustrating too because with social networking there's no way to control that and Kappa Delta along with all other national sororities we have education programs in place for our membership talking about cyber bullying, hazing and we just have a zero tolerance to all of that," says the national president of Kappa Delta sorority, Beth Langford.

FSU PD says although it's difficult to track down IP addresses or email accounts, it's not impossible. They're working with several other police organizations to track down whoever is behind the harassment.

In the meantime, school officials and police want students to be careful about what information is out there on the Internet because predators can learn a lot about you by what you post.

Ok..... 1. Do not add people on Facebook that you do not know. Having 1,000 friends is plain stupid. Those people are not your friends and you're dumb to think that. 2. If you you don't like what somebody is saying on Facebook, there is a such thing called "BLOCK/REPORT." This person would not longer be able to view your profile or send you messages. 3. A high GPA is one of the standards for being in a sorority. These people are intelligent. And tons of girls act ditzy and stupid for extra attention. (Annoying if you ask me or any other normal person.)

A college degree of any level will never touch the level of a class not taught, called Common Sense 101!! There are too many people of all ages thinking by accepting the "friend request" from people you don't even know makes you so "cool" to have a high friend count. NO...it makes you a shallow moron who ends up with these type of problems you set yourself up for.

Anonymous, read the article more closely. It does not state that these women had any nude photos of themselves but this pervert was attempting to solicit any nude photos from them. In plain English this pervert was harassing them while online.

No Megan, what is so stupid about this is if somebody online asked me to send naked pictures of myself I would not do it. And if I had every joined a sororiety (BARF), and one of the alumni asked me to send naked photos or I would be dismissed, I woudlnt want to be in a sororiety like that anyway. These girls only want approval and pay for it. They are so stupid! Common sense people! Dont take naked photos and call yourself a victim. So trashy! Tri delt..everyone has.

Get real with yourself. I am a KD in Georgia and we are not the bottle blondes you are accusing us of being. Any one can be targeted. It is sad that someone like yourself is saying that it is funny for people to be attacked online. Shame on you. My KD sisters and I have not only the highest GPA on campus, but we are also the most diverse. So before you go commenting about how its funny for college women to be preyed on, make sure you know what you are talking about. The only person I feel that is naive about the situation right now is yourself for making a serious situation into a joke. AOT to all my KD SISTERS!

Hilarious! Sorority girls are the perfect target for criminals, they are naive, constantly seek approval of their peers and will do anything to fit in. I am surprised someone hasn't tried this before. I walked into TPD one day to see a Tri Delt telling the cop at the front desk how she wired someone $2000 for a car she never saw in person. How stupid can one be?
