Tallahassee, Florida -July 21
Family and friends of Private First Class Brandon King were out Saturday 7-21-12, working to raise money for the 'Brandon M. King Scholarship.'
The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled at Tallahassee Community College, where King was a student.
The scholarship was setup to honor King who was killed during combat while he was deployed in Afghanistan back in 2010.
"We wanted Brandon's name to never be forgotten. So what better way than to start the 'Brandon King Scholarship.' And second, education is important to our family," says Carolyn Freda King, Brandon's mother.
"It just shows how strong his mother is. She will stop at nothing to make sure he's remembered and to continue on to help out other people," says Jean Paul Descollie, Brandon's friend.
The scholarship helps cover tuition, fees and books
