Marianna Police Department Release:
On 12-03-2010 Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to 2826 Penn Ave. in reference to a complaint of a stolen vehicle. Upon officers arrival the victim told officers that her ex-boyfriend had taken her car and would not return it. While officer were taking the report the ex-boyfriend later identified as Shawnest Ivey called the victim and told her he saw the Police at her house and left the car down the road from the residence. Officers took the victim and recovered the vehicle but were unable to locate the suspect. Approx. 30 minutes later Officer were again dispatched to the residence on Penn Ave. in reference to Ivey kicking in the door to the residence and making forcible unlawful entry to the residence. While the victim was on the phone with 911 Ivey took the phone from her and terminated the call. Ivey then broke the victim’s cell phone so that she could not summon help. Ivey fled the seen before officers arrived. Officers with the Marianna police department set up a perimeter around the residence, and asked for and received assistance from Jackson CI K-9 team. The JCI K-9 team was able to get a track and located Ivey hiding in a wooded are to the Northeast of the residence.
