TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida Lottery reports that more people bought tickets for its scratch-off games last week than ever before in history.
Lottery officials said Monday that $78.5 million in scratch-off game tickets were sold the week beginning Feb. 10. That's $4.5 million more than the previous record, which was set in March 2012.
The top sellers were the 100x The Cash and the Gold Rush Tripler games, which combined for more than $24 million in sales last week. In total, 21 different games had sales topping $1 million last week.
Officials say Florida's scratch-off games have surpassed the New York Lottery's similar games for each of the past four weeks. The New York Lottery is the nation's largest.
