ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) --
A year-old girl is in state custody after Orlando police found her alone in an apartment that had been burglarized.
Police say neighbors noticed damage to the apartment's door
frame Thursday night and called to report a burglary.
The baby was found alone but safe her crib.
Police launched a search for the baby's mother, 28-year-old
Kendra Leonard, after finding her cell phone on a counter in the
According to an arrest report, Leonard arrived at the house
several hours later, unaware of the search.
Leonard was being held Friday, October 29 at the Orange County jail on
$1,000 bond. She is charged with child neglect. Jail records did
not show whether she was represented by an attorney.
