ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) --

A year-old girl is in state custody after Orlando police found her alone in an apartment that had been burglarized.

Police say neighbors noticed damage to the apartment's door
frame Thursday night and called to report a burglary.

The baby was found alone but safe her crib.

Police launched a search for the baby's mother, 28-year-old
Kendra Leonard, after finding her cell phone on a counter in the
apartment.

According to an arrest report, Leonard arrived at the house
several hours later, unaware of the search.

Leonard was being held Friday, October 29 at the Orange County jail on
$1,000 bond. She is charged with child neglect. Jail records did
not show whether she was represented by an attorney.

This is a great reason to have forced sterilization. If a parent of either sex does this than the child should be taken forever and they should be sterilzed so they can't make any more babies that they obviously don't care about. It would also save many poor children from having to live in foster care and taxpayers wouldn't be on the hook for all of the costs of supporting the child and quite often one or more of the parents.

Maybe the mother was kidnapped during the burglary. Where is the father? Oops, I forgot fathers don't take care of their kids anymore.

Maybe the baby was actually the burglar and was caught in the act, police just don't realize it.

I DON'T CARE if the mom had to go to work and could't find a sitter or WHAT. YOU DO NOT LEAVE A CHILD OF ANY AGE ALONE. TAKE THE BABY AND FIND A BETTER MOM.
