Leon County Board of County Commissioners Press Release
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TALLAHASSEE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND FLORIDA BIG BEND THROUGH THIS EVENING.
VERY HEAVY RAIN RATES DUE TO TROPICAL RAIN SHOWERS OR RAIN BANDS MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING IN LOCALIZED AREAS. RAINFALL RATES IN THE HEAVIEST BANDS COULD APPROACH 2 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR.
MOST LOCATIONS WILL SEE CLOSE TO AN INCH OF RAIN TOTAL. BUT LOCALIZED AREAS WILL SEE AMOUNTS MUCH HIGHER PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
