POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A Broward County deputy has died from injuries he suffered in a crash on his way to work.
The sheriff's office reports 32-year-old Deputy Daniel Rivera was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. Saturday at Broward Health North hospital.
Rivera had been hospitalized since his car veered off Interstate 95 and crashed into a tree on Sept. 11.
Rivera was assigned to the Pompano Beach district office as a road patrol deputy. He spent most of his 10 years with the sheriff's office as a Department of Detention deputy. He transferred to the Department of Law enforcement in May 2012.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
